Throughout the year, the Health and
Medicine Policy Research Group offers internship and volunteer
opportunities in a variety of projects. The intern or volunteer will assist the staff, participate in
public policy research and attend monthly board meetings. As a result, the intern or volunteer will gain valuable
exposure to many diverse groups such as business, health labor and
community groups. On an
informal basis, this position would also offer the intern an excellent
opportunity for networking and making future contacts.
Assignments
could include, but are not limited to:
- Development
of position papers and other reports.
- Research
of current health care issues.
- Organization
and coordination of media relations.
- Management
of our speaker’s bureau and speakers training program for
community leaders in the Chicago area.
- Organization
and coordination of various women’s health projects.
- Research
and analysis of Illinois’ Medicaid System.
- Grant
writing and non-profit philanthropy.
- Office
and administrative support as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Good
writing and communication skills.
- Interest
in health, public policy, women’s studies, and non-profit
management.
- Minimum
commitment of 10 hours per week.
COURSE CREDIT:
Because this is an unpaid position, course credit is
available and can be negotiated.
