The Chicago Area Schweitzer Fellows Program, a program of The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship and the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group, provides educational opportunities through community service and support for aspiring health professionals at the graduate level who are dedicated to working with individuals and communities in the Chicago area that are currently underserved by our health care system.

Entering its eleventh year in May 2006, the program has worked to help meet the health care needs of Chicago's poor and underserved communities by selecting outstanding students from the city's health professional colleges and universities committed to continuing Dr. Albert Schweitzer's mission, "reverence for life." Through participation in the program, students are able to serve vulnerable populations that lack adequate access to health care and other preventive measures.
