Chicago Forum for Justice in Health Policy: A National Perspective on Lessons from COVID-19

Aug 26, 2021

On Thursday, August 26, we hosted a forum focused on uncovering insights from pandemic response so far with a national perspective featuring Dr. José Ramón Fernández-Peña, Director of Health Professions Advising at Northwestern University and President of the American Public Health Association, and Dr. Linda Rae Murray, Health & Medicine Board Member and Former President of the American Public Health Association.

View the recording below:

With vaccine uptake slowed, increased spread of the Delta variant, and shifting guidance on masking, COVID-19 continues to have widespread effects on our lives. Better planning and responses to the pandemic would have saved lives throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Given the ongoing and shifting public health crisis, what lessons can we learn from the experience so far?

What went wrong with national planning, collaboration, and partnership in the U.S.? What went well? What improvements can we make to better address COVID-19 and to prepare for future public health crises?

This second in a three-part series of forums focused on uncovering insights from the pandemic response, looking at global, national, and local levels. The forums also look at how we can apply lessons from the pandemic to radically rethink and reshape the future of public health.

Join us for the entire three-part series with international, national, and state and local perspectives on COVID-19.
