Health & Medicine has launched a national search for its next Executive Director. Founded in 1981, Health & Medicine is a Chicago-based independent nonprofit organization working to improve the health of all people in Illinois by advancing health equity through research, education, policy development, advocacy, and collaboration.

The Board of Directors is seeking a courageous, progressive public health leader who will work in close partnership with the Board and staff to co-create a strategic vision for the organization—one that responds to the challenges of the current political moment while advancing long-term systems change.

The Executive Director will oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations, including organizational planning, human resources, and budget development and implementation, while upholding Health & Medicine’s mission and values. The role requires deep public health knowledge and experience, an understanding of systems-based and community-centered approaches, and the ability to collaborate and negotiate with a newly formed workers’ union.

The search is being conducted by Morten Group, a national consulting firm specializing in mission-driven leadership placements as well as interconnected services across equity, leadership and organizational development, and community research.
