On April 16, 2025, Health & Medicine Policy Director Wesley Epplin delivered remarks at a press conference supporting the Hazel M. Johnson Cumulative Impacts Ordinance. Speaking on behalf of both Health & Medicine and the Collaborative for Health Equity Cook County, he emphasized the urgent need to address environmental racism and the unacceptable health inequities facing communities across Chicago.
Epplin called on city leaders to recognize that protecting public health is their most important responsibility and urged them to pass and implement this critical ordinance to help ensure all communities can thrive.
